Newlywed Programme

• Duration: 45 minutes.

• We welcome the newlyweds along with their witnesses or all guests. The windmill is decorated with flowers. First, on the 1st floor, there is a small festive greeting for the newlyweds, serving "road bread" (ceļamaizīte) as they begin their shared life journey. Then we head to the 2nd floor to grind grain for the newlyweds' first shared bread or pancakes. To help the flour grind better, we sing well-known Latvian folk songs. Once the grain is ground, we go downstairs, where the couple must complete a few tasks (all related to bread and food) to see how ready and knowledgeable they are for life together. There will be one more activity for the newlyweds, but we cannot reveal everything yet!

• For an additional fee, we highly recommend the musician Indra, who will play the accordion and sing along to traditional Latvian songs... "Stāv dzirnas zaļā ielejā, Šalc strautā ūdens kritums..."

• It is possible to travel to the windmill through the avenue in a horse-drawn carriage. More information is available by phone.
